Standard Gas welcomed Peter Clark and Chris Hawkins from INNOVATE UK Business Connect to our SG100 plant at Scottow on 22nd October.

Director and Co-Lead for Carbon, Richard Jackson, and Head of Government Affairs, Peter Coombes offered them an extensive insight into our technology and the ongoing commissioning process for the first SG100, including a tour of the plant.

Peter Clark, who is Head of Chemistry and Biotechnology at IUKB, oversees programmes and activities where innovation in these fields can play a key role in creating positive change. Importantly, he understands the challenges and opportunities for innovators in this field, working closely with key stakeholders from Government and the private sector to develop new programmes and initiatives to accelerate innovation.

After the visit, Peter Clark posted on LinkedIn that he and Chris Hawkins had seen Standard Gas’s “linchpin technology”, noting: “They are scaling up of their SG100 Advanced Thermal Cracking plant which is capable of generating 40,00 MWh of power annually, enough for 10,000 homes…all for that modest modular size reactor!”

During their visit to Scottow Enterprise Park, the IUKBC team also met with Hethel Innovation’s Fiona Lettice, Imogen Shipperlee, and Aaron Hunter, to find out more about plans – in which Standard Gas has a central role – to develop the park as a clean energy and technology hub. “So many opportunities when you consider the local innovation community and investment in energy in the East!,” said Peter Clark.
